Van Herby Cheese

The registered and geographically marked Van herb cheese is produced in the Van region of Anatolia. Also known as Herb Van cheese, this cheese is placed in earthenware pots during the summer months, along with wild herbs called "cacık," buried in the ground, and left to mature for a certain period. It is then unearthed and consumed during the winter months. Van herb cheese gains a pleasant taste with the addition of herbs specific to the Van region.
